MIKE STEPHENS

Mike Stephens is a Senior Green Building Construction Consultant specializing in building High Performance & Energy Efficiency homes. Mike is currently consulting for Elite Custom Homes, Inc. and is the President of Eco-Living Solutions, Inc.; he has been in the construction industry for over 35 years.

Mike is a Graduate Master Builder, Certified Graduate Remodeler, and a builder of Certified EasyLiving Homes Texas Universal Design. He holds a Certification as an Aging-In-Place Specialist. He is a founding member and on the Board of Green Built North Texas, a Certified Energy Star Partner and a member of the U.S. Green Building Council® North Texas Chapter. Most recently, he received his designation as a NAHB Certified Green Professional and NAHB Research Center accredited National Green Home Certification “Verifier”, along with a Green Advantage Environmental Commercial Certification.

Mike’s expertise in green building has helped Elite Custom Homes fulfill their commitment to build Energy Star and LEED® for Homes Registered Projects in Greater Northeast Tarrant County, Texas. Elite has eight certified LEED® for Homes at the Silver and Gold levels. Elite Custom Homes, Inc. was one of the first 50 homebuilders in the Nation to participate in the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Builders Challenge; they have six out of the seven houses registered in the State of Texas. Elite’s most recent award is the Residential Design/Build 2008 Excellence Award for the Green Home category and the Texas Association of Builder’s 2008 Star Award for Green Project of the Year. In conjunction, Mike was a Texas Association of Builder’s 2008 Star Award Finalist for Green Building Advocate of the Year.
