Local Company Training Architects about Green Construction
Resource Dynamics/Green Building Education, located in Morrisville, PA has received approval from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) for their curriculum offering of Green Advantage® Commercial Training. The program provides continuing education in support of the AIA’s sustainable design educational requirements that are mandatory for AIA membership renewal.
The issue of climate change and the impact of buildings on carbon emissions created a new expectation among building owners and the public to look to the expertise of architects for solutions that can help them leave a greener footprint. Buildings consume 40% of this country’s total energy, 72 % of the electricity, and produce 39% of this country’s total carbon emission load.In response to the growing demand on its members to assume greater leadership in addressing the challenges facing our planet, AIA is providing resources and tools to assist its members in better serving their clients and communities through environmentally responsible projects. In 2009, the Board of Directors modified the AIA-member continuing education requirement to include sustainable design as part of the existing 18-hour annual requirements.
The Green Advantage® Commercial Training Program presents sustainable construction in a holistic way - exposing contractors, trades-people, engineers, and architects to a progressive system that builds upon their knowledge base of construction and its connection with LEED®. Information is presented in a logical order as one would build a building - and it is complementary to the LEED® system. Architects will receive an essential "understanding" and a level of familiarity with LEED®, its credit intents, requirements, costs and benefits, by presenting it as an integral part of the construction process instead of strictly from a design standpoint.
Partners Lisa Grayson Zygmunt and Bruce Offner formed Resource Dynamics/Green Building Education in 2008 and have dedicated their “green expertise” to providing green building educationto personnel in all segments of the construction industry, facilities management operations and maintenance, state or local code officials, and municipal zoning planning departments to promote the adoption of practices in our cities and communities that are more sustainable, economically viable, and life enriching. The United States Green Building Council (USGBC) recognizes Resource Dynamics/Green Building Education as an Educational Provider.
Ms. Grayson Zygmunt was instrumental in launching the LEED training program in 2000 and Greenbuild the USGBC’s International Conference and Expo.Mr. Offner has over three decades of experience in the construction industry with extensive knowledge of the costs of building green and was instrumental in the development of the curriculum.
The educational offerings focus on practical training that provides ideas and strategies for use every day to improve your business or advance your personal career. These programs were developed to provide both theory "the why" and practical - "the how" knowledge for application into the lifestyle, home or workplace. The trainings give the attendees a ready knowledge base and a capacity to effect environmentally grounded solutions and, are flexible so that content delivery can be tailored for specific needs and, can be presented in person or via web based format.
